TL;DR Avoid this place if you don't want to wait 2 hours for a shake. We had to ask for a refund after waiting close to 90 minutes for our shakes (which would have taken much longer).

This place just isn't ready to open yet (even a soft open). They're understaffed and the staff don't seem like they're trained well; our cashier was super sweet but she wasn't able to put in orders quickly, and the three people in the back were somehow only making about one shake every 5-10 minutes combined (not each). Whatever training they still have to do, they need to just do it now and THEN open the store. It's ridiculous to open a shake shop in the middle of the summer and not fully train your employees before throwing them into a dessert rush.

There were about 10 people in front of us when we arrived and it still took 30 minutes to get to the front of the line because of how slow the orders were being taken. Then, after we put in our order (4 small shakes), the cashier asked for a phone number and just said the shakes would "take a while" to come out. An hour later (past 11 pm at this point), there were still EIGHT shake orders in front of us and they were serving one order every 10 minutes. We decided to just cut our losses and ask for a refund because we needed to be up early and at the rate they were serving shakes, we'd be waiting well past midnight.

If the cashier had given us an actual wait time instead of just saying "a while", we obviously wouldn't have waited. I can understand not wanting to tell your customer that a small shake will take 90 minutes to 2 hours to come out, but it's better to tell the truth and lose business once than to hide the wait time and lose business long term.

Jones Shakes Response

Exaggerator and sign ignorer.

Unfortunately, even with a sign that warned customers that we’re understaffed, that orders could take over 30 minutes, and that we’re in the middle of a soft open, John decided to come in. No problem so far. But John’s expectations remained too high for a business who’s still training and hiring.

Worse, John characterizes the wait as 2 hours.
What a lie. He waited 38 minutes for his shake. Is that a long wait? Yes. Was it expected during our first week with the parameters above? Yes.
